Hi! I’m Naomi Greyser.

Naomi Greyser smiling with sunglasses on her head sitting in a sunflower field wearing a black t-shirt.

I’m an associate professor of English, American Studies, and Gender Studies at the University of Iowa.

I’m also a writing, research, and creativity consultant, a leader of workshops and retreats, and the author of “Unblocked: Writing, Research & the Creative Process.”

I have always loved to talk with people about their work and support them in undertaking projects with a greater sense of possibility, purpose, and pleasure.

Unblocked: Writing, Research and the Creative Process

COMING IN 2026

An art installation by Caitlyn Lempia-Bradford, showing colorful geometric wooden blocks arranged on a white surface.

Unblocked guides readers in deepening or selectively experimenting with their writing and research across the lifecycle of a project.

Like a creative lab, idea kitchen, or workshop in book form, this volume offers tools, intellectual ingredients, and rhetorical practices for academics to work and play with, including when they may feel stuck.
